One of my friends asking me about the term of web specialist. What are the differences between web developers and web specialists? And why do I choose to use the word specialist?
Web Developer Job Description
IMHO, the duties and responsibilities of a web developer largely depend on the employer and the pre-requisites of the project but most of them are quite same. Some of the tasks are:
- To design / develop website or web applications
- To design / develop relational database systems
- To perform Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
- To monitor web server and site technical performance
The web specialists also do the same tasks with the web developers. So, why do I choose to use the word specialist? Because it sounds very exclusive! LOL!
Requirements to become a Web Developer / Web Specialist
To be a web developer, you need to be well versed in some of the scripting languages and tools such as HTML, CSS, XML, Perl, PHP, MySQL, Adobe Photoshop, JavaScript, and other related stuffs. It is not obligatory that you should have educational qualifications in order for you to be a web developer. Anyone that have the skills can become one!
Web Developer Salary
According to JobStreet Malaysia, the average monthly salary for Fresh level, Junior Executive, and Senior Executive is MYR1800, MYR2500, and MYR3500 respectively. (Data taken when this article is written)
