Joomla, one of the world’s most popular open source content management systems (CMS) used for everything from websites to blogs to Intranets, today announces the immediate availability of Joomla 2.5. Along with new features such as advanced search and automatic notification of Joomla core and extension updates, the Joomla CMS for the first time includes multi-database support with the addition of Microsoft SQL Server. Previous versions of Joomla were compatible exclusively with MySQL databases.

“Jumla” is the Swahili word for “all together” and was the inspiration for the name Joomla!. The Joomla! project is one of the biggest content management systems worldwide, backed by a global community. Joomla! 2.5 is the sucessor of Joomla! 1.5. It is a long term release and represents the state of the art for the Joomla! project from January 2012 to July 2013.

Last weekend, I got an opportunity to attend an event called Joomla! Day Malaysia 2011 at Microsoft Auditorium, Level 29, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). I guest this is the highest Joomla! Day in the world!

We travelled from UTP to KL on Friday night and stay with my cousin at Bandar Baru Bangi. On the Saturday morning, we went to KLCC by KTM. Because of the KTM was very damn slow, we arrived at KLCC a bit late and there was no Joomla! t-shirt with S size left. Poor me. Huhuhu.

The comments

Having an event at KLCC is a good thing actually. People can easily come because the venue is well-known. However, I got few difficulties in understanding some of the speakers while they’re presenting because of their slang. The food was ok. But the WiFi was so-so. Very unstable. zzzzzz
